Attracting both year round a seasonal residents, this small community 27 miles west of Orlando is built along one of Florida's highest ridges and offers panoramic views of surrounding lakes. New neighborhoods have opened over the past decade with the extension of the East-West Expressway. Residents soak up the Florida sun with an ongoing parade of activities that celebrate sun, water, food and wine. Clermont enjoys an active Chamber of Commerce that sponsors Festival on the Lake, Christmas in South Lake, Taste of South Lake, Winefest, and Craft Show, and more. The nearby Clermont Chain of Lakes serves as the venue for a number of fishing tournaments and year round water sports. Clermont has also been adopted as a host site for Ironman Triathlons. It is the Lakeridge Winery and Vineyards that opened its doors in 1988 that draws thousands to the area each year. In addition to their ongoing tours and wine tastings, Lakeridge also hosts musical events such as "Jazz on the Vineyard Green."
